[synopsis] => Marketers mostly just want your money.

Writers mostly want to just entertain you.

Both offer you their books for sale.

Some sell you courses. Some write books on how to emulate their enormous successes.

How do you tell the "guru's" from the real successes?

It's what's in their courses. It's what's in their books.

The marketers who learned how to "break in" to Amazon and other booksellers are really teaching you how to market in their courses. Because that's what they know how to do best.

Go over their syllabus. See how many lectures and modules are about the craft of writing.

The "big name" authors whose books sell perennially - year after year, often with little paid advertising - have back trails where they spent years learning their craft and honing their writing habits.

The "guru's" with their courses have much shorter backtrails. And they started by learning how to market, to write sales letters that convert to sales, what makes people buy things.

Sure, both have books for sale.

Check out their backlist of books and you'll see the difference.

Marketers who are more honest about it will list them out, mostly non-fiction how-to books. Less honest marketers will hide their fiction titles.

Writers who learn how to market will share their backlist with you, as doing this will help them get devoted readers who want to buy the rest of their books.

Marketers who learn how to write generally don't stick with writing fiction for very long. Too much work. No way to "leverage" them quickly.

Successful writers aren't in it for the money itself, they were paid by the thrill of getting their story completed long before it went to print, or a digital version. Sure, they appreciate being able to get paid for what they like to do most.

And that's the difference. Marketers want to get well-paid for marketing things, like how-to books on writing.

This book is to help you sort out the marketers from the writers. And help you invest wisely in your training.

What you'll find inside:- Four key advices on any author-business you are building.- Why you publish wide rather than devoting your income to a single publishing source.- The one book any author should study in order to build their business.- What makes writers write for more than just money.- What conventional wisdom and free advice are worth.- Three recommended, timeless books by proved authors about writing.- 9 lessons learned from a prolific author after publishing over a hundred original fiction books in a single year.- Why emulating the existing bestsellers out there is a road to nowhere.- How to find an infinite source for new inspiration and new stories.
