"Jacqueline Woodson, one of today's finest writers, tells the moving story of her childhood in mesmerizing verse. Raised in South Carolina and New York, Woodson always felt halfway home in each place. In Holloway, "a perfect miniature prose-poem" (William Dalrymple), Macfarlane, artist Stanley Donwood, and writer Dan Richards travel to Dorset, near the south coast of England, to explore a famed "hollowed way"-a path used by walkers and riders for so many centuries that it has become worn far down into the...

SONGS FROM WALNUT CANYON brings the reader into a world of natural beauty, geological wonder, history, and myth. Most of them actually composed in the canyon, these poems are songs of the present that evoke songs past— in the daily lives and music of those who once inhabited the canyon, and in the voices of Crow, the Corn God, Flute Player, and Last Singer. Walnut Canyon is an extraordinary place. This book attempts both to honor that fact and to...
